Ride’s BURN 45 class is considered a cardiovascular workout, however it’s not quite the same type of workout as a long run or a 30 minute HIIT (high intensity interval training). It’s like combining the two and reaping the fat loss benefits of both.
How do we maximise the fat burn?
There are 11-12 songs in each playlist where we mix up the focus for each song, then repeat each focus 2-3 times. Some songs focus on challenging the gears in and out of the saddle, which is great for building lean muscle. The more lean muscle you have the more fat you will burn at resting, not to mention your muscles become healthier, tighter and stronger. Other songs will focus on short bursts of energy through speed in or out of the saddle. This could be considered HIIT, which is also great for fat loss as it revs up your heart rate, increases your metabolism at resting and does wanders for your overall cardiovascular health. Then we add in some endurance tracks where the focus is to hold the perfect balance of speed and resistance that your trainer calls out, over time. These songs are great for fat loss on an empty stomach as it uses fat for energy but only after you have properly got going and used up your other stored energy. Endurance tracks further challenge your heart and lungs in a different way than short intervals. Using this method of cardiovascular training is an ideal way to increase your fat loss from all angles as well as your overall fitness levels. Every level from beginner to professional athlete will be challenged and will have all the information on their consoles to keep them on track.
One last thing! I know this article is about fat loss but I want to leave you with the main reason for adding cardiovascular exercise to your routine which is pure health! Like all muscles, your heart adapts to the demands placed on it. When you perform cardiovascular exercises regularly, your heart becomes stronger and more efficient at pumping blood to the organs that depend on a strong blood supply to function. When your heart is weak, its pumping ability diminishes, causing your organs to malfunction. Poor diet and lack of exercise are the primary reasons cardiovascular disease develops and this potentially fatal disease can lead to high blood pressure and strokes. Building cardiovascular endurance dramatically decreases your risk of cardiovascular disease.
